Yoga teacher Auckland holds face making heart shaped yoga pose

My yoga journey began in my teenage years when my mother encouraged me to attend yoga classes at local schools and community centers. As I traveled and lived abroad, I explored different aspects of the practice, but it wasn't until I settled in Sydney after the birth of my first child that I truly immersed myself in yoga and meditation. The studio where I practiced in Sydney played a crucial role in supporting my transition into motherhood, laying the foundation for what has become a profound commitment and passion for my personal practice.

In 2018, I embarked on a 250-hour teacher training with Nikki Ralston, specialising in alignment and anatomy-based yoga, then further deepened my practice by undertaking 50-hours of Embodied Transitions training with Adele Kingham. As a lifelong student of yoga, I am constantly seeking new training and teachings to evolve and enrich both my personal growth and my teaching abilities.

As a mother of three primary school-aged boys, I understand firsthand the importance of a yoga practice for maintaining well-being and balance. I also appreciate the challenge of finding time to attend a studio when juggling young children. Having developed a deep appreciation for the transformative power of yoga, and driven by my desire to help other mothers embrace mindfulness, compassion, and self-awareness, I am passionate about offering prenatal and postnatal yoga courses throughout central Auckland.

My teaching style revolves around a dynamic flow sequence, integrating mindful movement that nurtures physical well-being, calms the mind, and fosters a deeper connection to oneself. The sessions are gentle yet strengthening, focussing on postures designed to rebuild core muscles and improve overall body alignment, while relieving common physical discomforts and tension, providing both restorative and revitalisation for the body.

I look forward to practicing with you soon.

With heart,
Melissa X
